Good Friday morning friends and family. Today is the 2nd day of 2015. 363 days remain in the year. It is partly sunny and cold in Sparks. The current temperature is 25˚. It should reach the upper thirties today before falling back in the twenties tonight. Rain, possibly mixed with ice is in the forecast for tomorrow. I celebrated new Years Eve with friends, staying overnight at their house and returning home yesterday. I had a very good time, but was quite tired yesterday and ended up going to bed early last night. A good nights sleep and now I feel refreshed. Today in History - 1788 - Georgia became the fourth state to ratify the U.S. Constitution. 1942 - The Philippine capitol of Manila was captured by Japanese forces during WWII. 1971 - 66 people were killed in a pile-up of spectators leaving a soccer match at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow, Scotland. 1981 - Police in Sheffield, England, arrested Peter Sutcliffe who admitted to being the Yorkshire Ripper, the serial killer of 13 women. 2006 - 12 miners died in a methane gas explosion at the Sago Mine in West Virginia. One mine, Randal McCloy, was rescued. 2014 - 52 passengers trapped for more than a week on an icebound Russian research ship in the Antarctic when a Chinese helicopter retrieved them, a dozen at a time, from the ice. Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself.
