Good Frosty morning and Happy New Years Eve. Not as cold as predicted in most areas but as predicted in some so hopefully you were prepaired. ONLY 32 at my house this morning. A Freeze watch is in effect until Friday noon for most of the Sierras and parts of the coastal range. SoCal got some good snow in the higher elevations with reports of up to 10 in some areas. The high wind warning has been lifted but wind advisories are up in some areas with winds in the northern part of the Central Valley being reported at upwards of 30mph. High wind advisory for big rigs on the Yolo Causeway, and Bright Bend Bridge on I-5. The winds are forecast to die out by noon today. Chain controls have been lifted on all non-seasonal highways except on Hwy 395 north of Hwy 70 and Hwy 299 near Cedarville. There also may be chain controls on Hwy 89 in the Truckee area but that is unconfirmed so be prepared just in case. Have a safe New Years.
