Good Monday morning to everyone. How was your weekend? Did you anything special or just finish up on some Christmas shopping? We had some beautiful weather here across Arizona so I was able to take a few photos which is always something I look forward to. Well we have a lot to talk about today weather wise so lets have a look and see whats going on around the country. We have two systems out there and both are bringing lots of rain and even snow to parts of the country. The first system is what we here in the West were dealing with last week. The low is now moving through the Middle Mississippi Valley with showers and storms ahead of the front and wintry weather on the backside of the low. As the low continues its track to the Northeast it will likely bring more wintry precipitation to the Upper Mississippi Valley, Upper Great Lakes and Northeast by Tuesday and through Wednesday. This could have an impact on some holiday travels so make sure you plan ahead and take into account that the weather could create some issues on the roads or at some airports. The other system is now bringing another soaking rain to much of the West coast from California up into Washington state. Snow is and will continue to fall in the Mountains. The low is currently off the Northern California coast West of the Bay area. The latest models show this low drifting to the Southeast over the next day or so. This will give us here in Arizona another chance for some showers by mid week. Now, we could see a few showers late tonight into tomorrow as a weak surface trough moves into the region sometime between the overnight and morning hours on Tuesday and then again as it moves through late Tuesday. We will likely see our rain chances increase as the next system moves through by Wednesday. Here in the Valley we could see some decent rainfall from late Wednesday into Thursday. Look for more snow to fall through the high country across Arizona and throughout the Rockies. This system could also bring some wintry weather to parts of the Plains through the second half of the week and could also impact some holiday travels. Looking ahead it looks as if we could see another system by the weekend which may bring more rain to the Valley and snow to the Mountains. With this being so far out there is not a lot of confidence in the potential but the latest trends and the European model does hint at the possibility. Stay tuned and I will continue to monitor our rain chances and let you know what to expect. Have a blessed and wonderful week everyone. ~Pete
