Good Morning All! -Mr Ed here from your Kennewick Applebees with todays FUN FACT for Thursday, May 29, 2014! Todays FUN FACT is about an American favorite.., the Potato Chip! Did you know the Potato Chip was invented purely by accident, and out of anger! In 1853, Chef George Crum was working at a restaurant in Saratoga Springs, New York where he was continuously trying to appease an unhappy customer. Mr Crums fried potatos were sent back several times by the customer with complaints that they were too soggy and not crunchy enough. A very angry Mr Crum then decided out of spite to slice a potato paper thin, deep fry until they were hard and crunchy and over-salt them. To Mr.Crums surprise, they were a hit with the customer and Americas favorite snack was born! Soon thereafter, Mr.Crum opened his own restaurant and served a basked of potato chips at every table!
