Good Morning All, - TopicsExpress

Good Morning All, Meditation June 11, 2013 I needed an oil change. When I arrived to get the work done, I ended up with an assessment I was not expecting. What I was given was a list of problems with my car. Oil pan gasket leak, transmission fluid too dirty, power steering fluid too dirty, radiator fluid too much sludge, cabin air filter shot, regular motor air filter shot and running lights out! Ever show up to a meeting, work, home, party, office or sporting event and expect one thing and walk away with a completely new list of things not expected? Surprise! Sometimes that surprise is a great one. We find out a bill was paid, problems are solved, a special gift given, work completed etc. etc......Good Surprise! But we also find more problems, new issues, extra costs and unexpected things that challenge us. Faith is full of surprises. Just when we are down and out God reaches through our torment and struggle and touches us with a surprise through the Holy Spirit, or work of another. Just when we thought we had it figured out our hearts are broken, we feel lost and alone and surprised because it seems our faith has been lost or challenged in a way we did not expect. How we connect our life of blessing and challenge with our every day faith is the place where this world and Gods presence intersect one another. We are always going to have unexpected moments or joy and great trial. By being intentional about faith, believing in something we can not always logically explain, we are demonstrating a willingness to move forward in growth and understanding. Accepting the good surprises are not that difficult. But the question is are we grateful, do we express that gratitude to God and others? Living in the unexpected moments of difficulty and surprise are more challenging. Do we express gratitude then? Are we faithful asking for guidance, sharing our pain with God, asking for direction and strength? Can we accept according to others there is more wrong than we may have anticipated? And then how do we work through it accessing the costs, and next right steps prioritizing the new list of issues. Be grateful for the good surprises. Prioritize and assess the cost of the challenging surprises. But connect both to faith. The intersection of world and faith is where we live. In all things when we remember to connect life and faith we get growth and guidance. Blessing to all of you as you process or experience your next surprise good or bad. Have a good Week!
