Good Morning All. Sadly this morning I have received notification that we have lost the appeal against the development of 320 dwellings on the site of Little Tarnbrick Farm. The full decision can be downloaded here: https://drive.google/file/d/0B9Tv1HyH4WZ6SzRVdjJmY1NTdWM/edit?usp=sharing Clearly we are devastated. As a Town Council we have always stated that we are not against development in Kirkham, but it has to be the right kind of development for our community and sustainable. We strongly feel that this proposal lies outside of the settlement boundary of Kirkham and includes no provision for increases in school places, health, medical, dental or other amenities whilst bringing potentially 1000+ more residents to our town. The very location means that it is unreasonable to walk to any of the nearest schools (and even then crossing a busy bypass), increasing the traffic and creating new junctions on the A583, a road with a history of collisions and fatalities. A full response and statement from the council will be given in time. Until then thank you to all of you who supported the objections and came to the inquest to put your case across to the inspectorate. Despite losing this battle we showed that there is a fantastic community spirit, more than just nimbyism, that wants to support development and growth with a vision of sustainability and Community. Sadly we feel this approved development does not meet this criteria. These are concerning times for our town and this decision will impact us all. Kirkham has been badly let down by the Fylde Council planning officers who through capitulation and lack of will to fight the appeal left only our own residents and Town Councillors to face the massed ranks of solicitors and consultants put forward by these wealthy developers (Gladman and Bloor Homes). We always stated that should this development be granted it will be the thin end of the wedge opening up development all the way to the M55. It is now vital that as a community we rally to action pro actively to ensure any proposed future developments that will impact on our town will be primarily for the benefit and development of our community, not the benefit of the developers who wish to build them. |M
