Good Morning! Been awake since 4:04am, but up at 5am. Just poured a cup of coffee, and started a fire. Inside temps were down to 51 degrees, and outside temps are still above the freezing mark and sits at 38 degrees out there. Hard to believe in December, at the end of it, even! Those winds have picked up and howled all night long. A few branches crashed to the roof and makes me wonder how many other branches and/or trees will be upon the ground this morning once daylight arrives. At least the temps are above freezing, so the trees most likely arent snapping out there like toothpicks without any hope of sway in order to prevent snapping without hope. HIgh gust was 44mph a little after 1am, but blowing quite steady right now at 20mph. This wind will help dry the water upon the ice and after all that rain, hopefully, we can start building some good solid ice again. Off the dock, was a good foot thick, but poorly made ice with lots of snow in it. It is not the kind of ice Id like to see approaching ice fishing season in another week! Lets hope it is differently upon the lake further versus in a highly drifted area off the dock!
