Good Morning Cape Coast!! Thank God Its Friday. How has your week been? Atlantic Wave is live on your radio, ATL FM 100.5MHz or online via atlfmonline Today we are discussing the lack of maintenance culture of state owned properties, a worrisome situation. The lack of maintenance culture on state owned properties is a worry that needs urgent attention. Walking through the Metropolis, one would find the awful nature of such buildings including Libraries, Post offices, Staff quarters amongst others. One is tempted to ask questions as to what actually underpins our inability to do our bits to maintain the status of government properties. Engineer Abraham Ebo Kakraba the Works Maintenance Civil Engineer at the Directorate of Physical Development and Estate Management of the University of Cape coast says maintenance is as important as new projects. He said most people or institutions tend to ignore maintenance activities citing irrelevance. According to him,the source of funding of maintenance projects is a big factor since maintenance requires a lot of money. He added that sometimes these maintenance activities are pre financed and later reimbursed by Government. How do we cultivate the culture of maintenance?
