Good Morning Christian and Welcome To The Morning Light! “THE STILL SMALL VOICE” When it seemed as though all Gods prophets had backslidden, and all the people had defected to Baal worship, the great Prophet Elijah had a showdown with Israel, and called down fire from Heaven, and slew 400 evil prophets of Baal. But now Queen Jezebel has sent out soldiers to kill him. Elijah became fed-up, wanted to die, and ran away to the Sinai dessert and Mt. Horeb, where God met with Moses... 1Kings 19:9-12 There he came to a cave, where he spent the night. But the LORD said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” Elijah replied, “I have zealously served the LORD God Almighty. But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killed every one of your prophets. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too.” “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the LORD told him. And as Elijah stood there, the LORD passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was (a still small voice) the sound of a gentle whisper. The Still Small Voice... The Lord visited him when a great wind, earthquake and fire ripped through the mountain. Elijah must have been greatly impressed by the supernatural signs God had sent. He must have initially thought, Now this is more like it! Just follow me back to Israel and well clean this mess right up! But Elijah quickly discerned that God wasn’t speaking to his heart through any of the 3 supernatural demonstrations. Until there came a Still Small Voice. That gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit in Elijahs heart, spoke the words that installed a fresh vision in Elijah and put him back into life with a revived mission. God moved this way for a very important reason. People always look for God to speak by answering their external circumstances. But God has always sought to connect with our hearts — that’s where the real need is. Jesus said... The kingdom of God is within you. —Luke 17:21 Many pray, looking for the wind, earthquake, and fire, but never listen to God’s still small voice. All God’s answers begin IN YOU. That’s why He planted the Well Of Prayer in you and not on a mountain or in a temple. God may be willing to send a supernatural wind, earthquake, and fire, to work in behalf of His call in you.
