Good Morning Cousins…. We have about 65 degrees at the Brimfield Police Department. We have the lower 70s in store for today. The cool down, however temporary, has begun. We also have a chance of rain. We have no delays, crashes or hooliganism to tell you about at this time. Today is July 15, 2014. The Brimfest parade is on September 20th. The parade starts at 10am. If you are going to be in the parade, email us at parade@brimfieldpolice. On this date in 1799, the Rosetta Stone is found in the Egyptian village of Rosetta by French Captain Pierre-François Bouchard. That was a huge find. Still today, people are learning all sorts of new languages because of Rosetta Stone. Amazing, right? The word for the day is… postprandial. The word means, “Happening or done after a meal.” It is used in a sentence as follows: “Mrs. Crabtree, in order to help with your metabolism, perhaps you should engage in a postprandial walk.” And now….the BPD Etiquette Tip of the Day. “If you are out to dinner with others, advise them ahead of time if you are expecting a phone call.” It seems simple, yet phones are the biggest intrusion during social interaction. Today is NOT my birthday. Happy Birthday to our cousins who were born on this date. We hope you get Grand Funk Railroad’s Greatest Hits album. I am not in North Carolina, nor am I in Rhode Isalnd. Good morning to all of our Crazy Cousins in Rhode Island. Carry on! Happy Birthday to Beth Stern. She is a model and widely known now for being married to Howard Stern. I do not know how she does it. Mrs. Chief would tolerate that nonsense for about three seconds and then I would be sleeping in the garage. Forest Whitaker, Jesse Ventura and Brigitte Nielsen also have birthdays today. Happy Birthday to Linda Ronstadt. She is a singer. The song stuck in your head today is… Blue Bayou. “Saving nickels, saving dimes. Working til the sun dont shine. Looking forward to happier times. On Blue Bayou. Im going back someday, come what may to Blue Bayou. Where the folks are fine and the world is mine… on Blue Bayou.” I don’t know if it is the lyrics or the tune; however, that song always seemed sad to me. Today’s Quote: We are living in a world today where lemonade is made from artificial flavors and furniture polish is made from real lemons. ~Alfred E.
