Good Morning =D Iloilo opens Fiestas in the City THE DEPARTMENT of Tourism (DOT)-6 opens the Fiestas in the City event with Ilonggo festival at the helm. Held from May 19 to 25 at SM City Iloilo, Fiestas in the City is SM City Iloilos initiative to boost local tourism with the support of DOT-6. The week-long event supports DOTs flagship project, Experience Western Visayas First, an initiative to persuade the locals of Western Visayas to patronize festivals in the region. DOT-6 regional director Helen Catalbas opened the event, which was attended by representatives from the province and city of Iloilo. Some festivals that highlighted the opening program include Otons Katagman Festival and Iloilo Citys Dinagyang Festival, with Tribu Paghidaet’s performance. Each day will feature the highlights of different regional festivals in an effort to promote local tourism in the region. Festivals to be featured in the next days are from Negros Occidental and Bacolod City, Aklan, Capiz, Antique and Guimaras. The Fiestas in the City will cap with the Sagala of Festival and Fiesta Queens on May 24 and Little Sagala on May 25. source: thedailyguardian.net
