Good Morning Everyone. In the days gone by of a past era in where people co existed with the wild creatures of the American landscape, there was a life changing event all young men passed through. A coming of age as a man. The indigenous people that lived upon and with their ancestral homelands took very seriously how their youth perceived and treated the animals of these lands. They took only what was needed for food and clothing, wasting nothing of the animals giveaway to them. Yes, a giveaway.. was how they understood the life of an animal that was used to continue theirs. It was sacred, it was valued, and it was appreciated. They never saw the creature as a lesser than them, a power over, or a hallmark of ego based self worth. Animals were relatives, that which they shared breath with, life with. At the coming of age of young boys, some tribes required the boy to go out into the wilderness, unarmed and alone. He was to pray and humble himself to the animal he was appointed to attain power from. Medicine power, not ego based conquering power. A power that would be his life guide, healing companion, adviser and protector. With his bare hands, he had to take the gift of the animals giveaway of life to him. Many never returned. Can you envision a young boy bare handed standing before a grizzly bear? If they received the gift of life from the animal they returned with the hide and other sacred parts and for the rest of his life he walked with that animals spirit. It was sacred, it was cherished and it held a place of honor. The boy had become a man. Can you imagine a boy bare handed surrendering a wolf? There is one account of a boy that had accomplished that. He not only bare handed took the wolf, the wolf walked beside him back to his community and lived there with him among the people. He was known as brother to the wolf. This reverence for the wild creatures of earth has been long removed by a culture of people with no regard for the sacredness of life. They are a people of dominance, not co existence. Entitlement, impunity. They live outside the circle of life. Trophy hunters are ego based takers. They take by force the best of the land and leave the lesser for others. They are the service to self people, The fat takers. We need to return to the brotherhood of all living beings. We need to halt the undeserved suffering of animal families. We need to place the sacredness, the sanctity of all life back into the equation of choices and co existence. We need to have the guts to say no more to those that power over and expire our animal relatives of the circle of life. We need to remember. We need to to change. Have a great day. ~ Jann Photo(s) By Bobs Creek Photos https://facebook/bobs.creekphotos
