Good Morning Everyone Our fifth Transmission Film Club film screening will take place on Saturday 29th November 2014 with the Birmingham première of the documentary film ‘Through The Lens of Hip Hop: UK Women’ (2014). The documentary features a range of women from the UK Hip Hop community and outside the community speaking on issues of feminism, identity, race, gender, hip hop education, women in the music industry and their relationship with Hip Hop music and the current worldwide scene. The film presents an insightful view on personal narratives and reflections through interviews of an intergenerational nature, ranging from female Hip Hop artists to female Hip Hop UK Scholars/Activists, bringing from the margins to the centre, present day views on the relationship that women have with Hip Hop today. Directed by British Co-Directors Samantha Calliste and Silhouette Bushay Filmed by Documentary Film Maker Kay Fiain This documentary film gives a rare insight on the UK Hip Hop community scene from the perspective of female Hip Hop artists, scholars and activists. There will be a Q & A session after the screening with the Directors of the film and local Birmingham female hip hop artists.
