Today is May 15, 2014. On this date in 1933, the first voice amplification system in the United States Senate was used. Ha! As if those folks need anymore help listening to themselves talk. If I were a senator, I would go to work in an Elvis-like jumpsuit and every answer I gave would be to the tune of an Elvis song. I would call other Senators “hound dog” and accuse them of having “Suspicious Minds.” It would be silly, yet make them a little afraid, which would get my district lots of funding. I have a plan. Happy Birthday to L. Frank Baum. He is no longer with us. He was an author and one of his works was the series The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I loved that movie as a kid and looked forward to the ONE time per year it was on TV. That Wicked Witch scared the jeepers out of me. Yikes, what a crabby lady…and homely. Her and her posse of flying monkeys made me afraid of walking in the woods for a while. Happy Birthday to Chazz Palminteri. He is an actor. He makes money playing mafia-type roles. He was in the movies “A Bronx Tale” and “The Usual Suspects.” I like the nicknames of mafia people. Names like “The Nose” and Bobby “Two Fingers.” That is the primary reason I could never be a member of the mafia, other than the criminal aspect…A street name of “Cheap Otter” gets you no street credibility.
