Good Morning, Family. Its For HIS Glory! Friday Part 3 Genesis 11:2, 4 (MSG) 2 It so happened that as they moved out of the east, they came upon a plain in the land of Shinar and settled down. 4 Then they said, “Come, let’s build ourselves a city and a tower that reaches Heaven. Let’s make ourselves famous so we won’t be scattered here and there across the Earth.” As I said last week, some of this saddest words in Scripture are found in Genesis 11:4. Thats because what God has in store for us is so amazing that He would not want us to stand still, or stay in the same place. He knows that where we are currently, does not have the capacity needed to contain what He has for us! We cant be content staying where we are, to make a name for ourselves. Whatever God has given us, whether its talent, skill, creativity, or wisdom, and whatever Hes going to give us; it is not just for us. Thats why we have to have a Keep It Movin mindset. Here is a good example: Genesis 12:1-2 Now [in Haran] the Lord said to Abram, Go for yourself [for your own advantage] away from your country, from your relatives and your father’s house, to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others]. God said that He would make Abrams name great. However, Abram had to leave his family, his familiar place, his comfort zone. God doesnt want us settling in, or for plain. Were not supposed to make our name great, or make ourselves famous. God said that HE would make our names great. What were supposed to do is make HIS Name great, and make Him famous. Another thing that I noticed in verse 4, is that not only didnt they want to go further, they wanted to reach Heaven. We cant reach Heaven or God, by refusing to do what He has required of us. For anyone who doesnt feel that Gods idea for us is go further, lets.look at some of his instructions, throughout the bible: Before the Fall 27 So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth. (Genesis 1:27-28) After The Flood And God pronounced a blessing upon Noah and his sons and said to them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. (Genesis 9:1) After The Resurrection 18 Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be). (Matthew 28:18-20) Before The Ascension But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.
