Good Morning! For God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 1 Peter 5:5 An unusual pearl was found in Australia. It was perfect in shape, in color, and almost an inch in diameter. Though it was practically priceless, the pearl could not be sold, for it was too large to be used as a ring setting, and few other pearls could be found to match, so that it might be part of a necklace. So it is with the proud and haughty Christian; he may have more than ordinary abilities, be well versed in Gods Word, and possess a fine personality. But pride, selfishness, condemnation of others, and boasting render his otherwise invaluable service valueless, and he is set aside, while God uses a more humble, obedient servant with less abilities to perform His work. An article in the Gospel Herald reminds us that generally, plants grow only in certain soils, or at certain heights, or under certain lines of latitude. Pride, however, like a weed, taking root in every heart, grows at all elevations, in the humblest as well as in the highest callings in life. A writer in the Sunday School Times tells the story of a young pastor who once asked an old farmer what was the greatest step to spiritual growth and happiness. Would renouncing our sinful self be the most important? suggested the pastor. No, replied the old farmer, the greatest step is to renounce our righteous self. Pride is the only poison that is good for you when swallowed.. ~ Beside the Still Waters..Have a Wonderful Wednesday and always remember: We Are On This Road Together!
