Good Morning! Happy Friday Eve. Congressional hearings start this morning on Obamacare. Republicans are determined to starkly illustrate the problems surrounding healthcare exchanges around the country. They want to know if the Obama administration was clueless about glitches in the system or deliberately misleading lawmakers about healthcare.gov. Republicans do not appear to be seeking solutions in this hearing, after all, its titled: PPPACA Implementation Failures: Didn’t Know or Didn’t Disclose?” Dont get me wrong, its important to find out what went wrong with the Obamacare exchanges, but this is all starting to feel like deja vu all over again. As in Republicans want to kill Obamacare, not fix whats wrong with the law. The last time they tried to kill the bill the government shut down. As for Democrats? More of them are now urging the President to extend the open-enrollment period for buying health insurance. According to Reuters: One democrat, Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, said he would join a Republican effort to delay the so-called individual mandate, that requires people to buy insurance or face a tax penalty. In the meantime, President Obama will try to deflect the countrys attention by talking about immigration reform. An important issue, but lets face it, an issue bound to go exactly -- nowhere.
