Attorney-General Mukul Rohatgi has asked the income-tax department to desist from appealing against the Bombay High Court’s October 10 order that British telecom major Vodafone would not have to pay the Rs 3,200-crore additional tax demanded by Indian authorities. 2. In its first acquisition in India, American online retail giant Amazon is planning to buy out fashion portal Jabong. According to a report by VCCircle, Amazon is in an initial-stage discussion to acquire Jabong, backed by Rocket Internet, in a deal worth about $1.2 billion. 3. The exercise, which commenced about four months ago, is expected to be completed by the end of this financial year, according to Pravin Kulkarni, general manager (marketing) at Parle Products.
