Good Morning PDS friends and fans.. We get to enjoy one more nice day before the coldest air of the fall season greets us on Tuesday. This cold air is what we would typically see in December and January. Portions of the Upper Midwest and Northern Tier of States are under Winter Storm Warning and Winter Storm Watches with some areas in central Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin seeing 6+ inches of snow. Further south and west.. the growing season will be coming to an abrupt end in the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles as Freeze Warnings and Freeze Watches are posted for those areas. A good portion of the country will be in the deep freeze and this cold snap will last for the next 8-14 days according to Climate Predication Center. Like it or not, the cold air looks to be here for a while and through at least Thanksgiving. I am still watching a storm system that may affect the Midwest this upcoming weekend and it is still way to early to tell what may happen. Once the models come into better agreement with the timing and precip type, I will update all accordingly. - Gene
