Good Morning Pan Lovers! Its #tbt #ThrowbackThursday and today were going back to Carnival 1956. American audio engineer and inventor Emory Cook was on Frederick Street recording the passing steel bands for the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. This is before the big truck days so you can hear everything from shuffling feet, to the hoop and cries of devils, to masqueraders singing Sparrows Road March winner Jean and Dinah. And the young sweet sound of pan sides playing Perez Prados Back Bay Shuffle, a big tune out of Cuba at the time. Keep your own #panmemories coming, were announcing our first set of winners on Friday October 3rd!
