Good Morning Str-8 Up. Today is Wednesday, June 5. Wow! Can you believe that this school year has come down to two and a half days!!! Once again this is Stacy H. studying with you. Today, we are finishing up the book of 1 Corinthians with chapter 16. Paul does a wonderful job sharing with us the collection of God’s people, his personal requests, and his final greetings. As we conclude our study of First Corinthians, I challenge you to think about the items that God is placing on your heart today to bring a friend, or stranger, to the Gospel. S-Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love. - 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 O- In these two short verses, Paul gives some powerful instructions. He reminds us to “be on guard”. When I hear to get on guard it brings a connotation of being fully alert of the events around you and being ready to defend with strength. Paul not only says to be on guard but to also “stand firm in faith”. To stand firm in faith means to be secure and know who and what you are in regards to faith and beliefs. He concludes these instructions with “be courageous”, “be strong” and “do everything with love”. All three of these commands are qualities found in Christ. He stood up and defeated death being totally obedient to the Father. A-Verse 13 and 14 are verses that many wise advisors shared with me when I graduated. They reminded me that this world is going to throw some things in my path that are going to distract me. It was important that I “stuck with my guns” and show the world around me that I was working towards eternal things not the small stuff of this world that are sure to perish. Sure enough these individuals were correct. While in college and even after college, some challenging ideas were tossed my way that tested my beliefs. I feel that that the point of verses 13 and 14 is for us to see how important it is that we all stand our ground using the Lord as our Counsel, His Word as our Manual, and live lives pleasing to Him. P-Father, thank you for so freely giving Your Son to show us how to live. How pleasing it is to see the evidence of a true leader in the Word. Lord, help me to use Paul’s words today to be a true Christian in Jesus Name. Help me to reach that child that is reaching out for You. Lastly, I ask that none of this be about me or things I that I did but please make it all about You. Thank you for Your Love. Amen.
