Good Morning,, Today I wanna touch on the issue of coming together and choosing the next Leadership as a community. Many People have voiced their concerns and I have listened and heard the issues and concerns, heard the comments. Some Comments about the outcome or potential outcome got me thinking. Many People have said well its between you and Lance, Many have said It between you and Hank, many have said its between you and JV. etc... I totally disagree with these statements. Its not between us at all, Its Gonna boil down to the people and who they decide should lead and more importantly , deal with the current situation in Sandy Bay. The candidates are out there and should be out there, lets ponder the situation. The Community has been in debt for many years since the 80s but the flood of 2011 and non compensation has placed Sandy Bay in severe debt along with a non functioning Government. As Chief , I will make that compensation a priority, as INAC owes us millions in compensation and flood money. This Current Leadership paid out monies that were not warranted, for example the Main Road Construction. 2.8 Million dollars went to a construction company, I think if there was 2,8 Million worth of work done on that road we could have had it Paved. Hiring and Paying out former employees time and time again has added to the current debt. 2006-07 over a Million dollars was paid out and again this past 2 years... We Need a Chief who will deal with these Issues, We need a Council who will also deal with the current situation and support the Chief. I ask everyone to ask these candidates How Will You Deal With These Issues? We Need To Know how the Candidates are gonna handle the concerns of the people and the community. And Most importantly , How do we avoid getting back into this situation every two years , people should not be rehired and compensated with Band Funds and given high paying positions for Politics.. There are many other Issues that were brought up, including the treatment of CFS workers in Sandy Bay , who are relatives of the Chief. At no time should our people be treated like Garbage from anyone, we had worked hard for Sandy Bay to achieve its own Mandate. This Program and workers should make every effort to help families stay as families. we have way too many children in care and its becoming a money bag and more job creation. We have so many Offices and no Accountability and Transparency to the Community--- We Will Change That..... Health Centre has Its many issues as usual and many candidates have many family working there, this is something we should be asking them again. How would you deal with these issues and how do you deal with family members as employees... Community Recreation.... Lots of words of concern, lack of transparency. Where is all the Fundraising monies going? Why is there only certain groups or people being funded? Most of these questions I can not answer without access to the Band Office. But it is very clear the People want Transparency. We Will Open Up All Books Of Finances And Report To The Community As Per All Activity On All Monies.... Its Time We All Knew.... Two Weeks To Decide Good Folks.... Lets Make Our Decision And Vote Count... We Need To Fix Our Rez, No One Will Do It For Us..... Do It For The Future Generations Like The Little Guy Below....
