Police say 27 year old Thomas Thompson Junior was charged with burglary, assault and robbery, and is being held on 15 thousand dollars bail prior to arraignment in Brattleboro this afternoon. The case remains under investigation. 33 year old Greg Turner was ordered held without bail yesterday at his arraignment for charges related to the incident. A Marlboro Vermont man was released on conditions after pleading not guilty to four counts of domestic assault. Vermont state police had charged 26 year old Hugh Mansur, after they investigated a complaint from a former girlfriend. The victim claimed Mansur allegedly had assaulted her on numerous occasions over a span of 5 years. Residents in the Brattleboro area are currently receiving mailings from HomeServe USA Repair Management Corp in regard to water service line responsibility. HomeServe is an independent company that offers residential repair coverage plans and is not affiliated with the local utility that supplies water to residents. This mailing is a solicitation to purchase insurance from HomeServe and is not associated with any utilities furnished by the Town of Brattleboro Water Department. This reminder, the Elm Street parking lot (behind the Keene Fire Station) will be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to allow a contractor to perform pavement maintenance services on behalf of the City. New Hampshire officials say hundreds of cases of lung, bladder and skin cancer could be avoided if private well owners had their drinking water tested for arsenic. The report by Dartmouth College and the state departments of health and environmental services estimates that 450 to 600 cases of cancer could be avoided through testing — based on the number of wells that have tested positive and cancer rates in the state.
