Several Aiken representatives and store owners say The Alley in downtown Aiken has the potential to be the heart of business and hangout for residents and visitors, not just during events! The project would include more trees, distinct light sources and the elimination of a curb and gutter! What a TREAT to see Aiken City Council Member Gail Diggs on the front page this morning! This article is about Contracts Reported Unknown By Council and it is written my Maayan Schechter! Dede Biles wrote about Residents Twitter Handle Achieves NASCAR Fame and he included some nice pictures too! Congratulations to S.C. Rep. Roland Smith, R-Warrenville! On Wednesday, he will will receive the Order of the Palmetto @11 A.M. @ Langley Pentecostal Holiness Church in Langley! Governor Nikki Haley will present this award to him! Rob Novit wrote about State Chamber Cites MTU For Its Service and he included some nice pictures too! This is about the MTU Aiken plant in Graniteville and we are so proud of them! Congratulations to Dr. Deidre Martin @ USCA! She is retiring in May and Rob Novit wrote this article! Pine Lawn Cemetery was the only public burial ground for blacks in Aiken for many years, according to Dede Biles! On Sunday, the AC Historical Society will unveil a historical marker for Pine Lawn during its fall meeting on Sunday @ 3 P.M. The meeting will be held at the AC Historical Museum in Aiken! The second Aiken Oktoberfest will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11th, in The Alley from 6 to 10:30 P.M. Stephanie Turner wrote about the Newberry Opera House and included a list of the event-packed year on tap for 2014-15!
