Sincerely, Danielle Seale, LCSW PHRM/Social Services Director Mississippi State Department of Health 601 576 7477 Here is a short description of each of the positions: LSW: Social worker III (Jackson, Tupelo, Coast – with very near future positions in Meridian and Hattiesburg) $35,257.85 Definition by the MS State Personnel Board: This is social work in a medical setting (MSDH public health clinics), involving the performance of social services for clients, or patients of clinics, and includes routine and standard services for patients and patients families at the clinics and in their homes. Social workers may be required to provide social work services at a more advanced professional level, consistent with the scope of education and licensure. The work involves the application of social work techniques to the practical and emotional needs of patients in clinics, or other settings. Employees in this classification may provide difficult case management/casework services to patients and non-professional and semi-professional subordinates and may provide consultation to medical paramedical personnel depending on their scope of education and licensure. Emphasis of work is on the independent performance of difficult case management/casework services, or the provision of consultation in a program of considerable complexity. General professional supervision is received from a clinical social worker at a higher classification or from an administrative official. More details: Social workers will work with high risk pregnant women and infants, on a multi-disciplinary team. Social workers will be responsible for case management/care coordination for clients and families. Social workers will complete a psychosocial assessment, write progress notes, work with the team to develop the plan of care, interact with the community to overcome barriers of the client. The focus of the case manager is relationship building, empowering the client and family, and focusing on strengths of client and family. Use of a research based curriculum, Partners for Healthy Baby and the incorporation of an evidence based home visiting model. Computer skills for data entry. LMSW: Social Worker IV: (Jackson) $40,890.84 Definition by the MS State Personnel Board : LMSW: This is administrative and supervisory work in directing the activities of the agency social services field staff. Incumbent ensures that proper program standards are maintained within each designated geographical area and coordinates program reviews and policy changes necessary for the implementation of various programs. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Central State Office or District Administrator as determined by the agency head. More details: The LMSW will work at the District Level (macro) within a multi-disciplinary team of other administrative staff. This person will focus on the administrative aspects of the county level social workers, supervision, consultation, and review of charts/documentation, and providing guidance for enhancements at the county level towards program compliance. The LMSW may even have a case load within the high risk pregnant women and infants program at the local county level.
