Good Morning my friends and fellow Patriots. Im going in a different direction than usual. Tomorrow is Vietnam Veterans Day and I will be dark most if not all day due to attending a very special ceremony some distance from home. As most of you are aware, I am a Vietnam vet and Im somewhat out spoken. I truly do appreciate that a day is being designated to recognize Vietnam vets. At the same time, as a veteran, I observe Veterans Day in November each year. I chose willingly years ago to enlist in the Army and have no regrets. I served during a very troubled time in the history of our Country, in some ways much like today. I saw and experienced the horrors of combat and lost a number of close friends and comrades. Most of us were young boys that had to grow into men quickly and in some ways before our time. We wound up fighting two wars, one in SE Asia and one when we returned home. I dont believe that many of us were truly prepared for that and as a result, we had an even tougher time readjusting to civilian life. We were looked down upon, scorned and hated, ridiculed and avoided at times. That being said, most of us moved on with our lives. Looking back, I have no regrets and Ive always believed that I served with honor and pride. I didnt want any parades when I came home or any recognition. I did my job as I was expected to and I did it as best as I could. What I really wanted was to move on with my life and be respected for serving my Country, nothing more and nothing less. This Country doesnt owe me anything, actually I believe that I still owe my Country. So, I will observe Vietnam Veterans Day tomorrow with both pride of service and also a sense of being honored and blessed to have served with honorable, gallant and heroic young men who were Americas best. I was privileged to be a part of them and I am eternally proud and thankful for that. Sometime tomorrow, I am asking you to stop and reflect on our Veterans in general. If you want to truly honor us Vietnam vets, thank and appreciate todays young vets. They have had to deal with far more than we did in many ways. Show them you appreciate them. Do not not let them experience what we did when we came home. They have earned that right. No more Vietnams. God Bless you all, God Bless America and God Bless all of my brothers and sisters who have served and sacrificed so much..
