Good Morning to all the REAL DREAM CHASERS out there!! I’m a bit late with the newscap this morning but better late than never. Let’s Go - “If you are a teacher, don’t bring any media house on the school compounds of Barbados. If you are a principal, don’t bring them and if you are a trade union leader, stay out in the road unless you come to do good because the nature of life is about doing good; not about creating disharmony.” These were the words coming from the Minister of Education Ronald Jones which has caused Barbados Today to state that he needs to apologize to himself for having uttered such nonsense. Teachers and students at Society Primary, who were dismissed because of conditions there are now back at school. President of the Barbados Union of Teachers Pedro Shepherd has stated that he had visited the Alma Parris School for a three-hour-long meeting to examine the problems there that had teachers complaining. The president noted that in addition to the issue of timetables, matters relating to the teachers who were teaching outside of their area of competence were also brought up during the meeting. Security Officers at SJPP have been carrying out daily checks on people and vehicles entering the campus. Security was tightened as a result of an incident there some years ago involving a student and a visitor. Barbadians can expect to see and hear more from their Democratic Labour Party (DLP) parliamentarians in the coming weeks. That is according to general secretary of the DLP, Minister of Industry Donville Inniss, who said it was necessary that citizens understood why Government had to take some decisions. I just they feel the need to explain to the people why they must smile, grunt and accept everything that they dish out. Barbados is being used as a “dumping ground” for cheap milk import substitutes and Government’s hands are tied in stopping the influx through commercial policies. That was the position taken this morning by Minister of Agriculture, Dr. David Estwick as he urges Bajans to buy local milk products. The Pine Hill Dairy (PHD) is looking at lowering prices in order to stay competitive. They also need to look at producing products that taste good! Governor of the Central Bank Dr. Delisle Worrell is saying that Barbadians should purchase savings bonds instead of using banks to save. He went on to note that banks were “unhappy” that his institution had stipulated a minimum 2.5 per cent interest rate to be paid to individual savers. Finally, convicted drug courier Raul Garcia has been given the green light to return to Cuba, the country of his birth. Officials at the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba informed Garcia that his request to be allowed to return to his homeland had been granted by the Cuban government. This is good news, the government needs to put Garica on the first place back to Havana with a Cuban Cigar!! With tips on domestic violence, child and animal abuse, fraud and even copyright infringement being received, Crime Stoppers is reporting that Barbadians are beginning to see it as more than just a whistle-blower organization for major crimes. Unemployment in Barbados has fallen by 1%. I would like to know when that survey was carried out. Well that’s all for today folks remember not to judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant. So get out there and plant some seeds today!! Have a great day!!
