Good News! Gracie will be coming home tomorrow. They did the scope and everything looked good. They did fine that in her blood work she is lacking vitamin K . She will be ok with this for a few weeks so we will now have to add a new doctor to the list of many which is the hematologist. I will sit down with them on April 11 to discuss on going treatment. It is rare to have a vitamin K deficiency. That’s because in addition to being found in leafy green foods, the bacteria in your intestines can make vitamin K. Sometimes taking antibiotics can kill the bacteria and lead to a mild deficiency, mostly in people with low levels to begin with. Vitamin K deficiency can lead to excessive bleeding, which may begin as oozing from the gums or nose.
