Good News, Not so good news. The turnout was not as good as the last meeting, but a lot of that has to do with the short notice of meeting, and then the change of location, after the originally meeting was posted. That being said there was absolutely no one there that spoke in favor of landfills. The Selectmen that were present, Mike Beaulieau, and Andrew Rawson, agreed and motioned to not proceed as being in favor of this proposal, as much as was allowed by law. Mr. Boyers, from the Planning Board (Chairman) spoke about the procedures that would have to be done in order to move forward. An application would have to be received by the Planning Board and then A Public Hearing would be held to discuss the application. This would be an open meeting for all residents. There is also the possibility of a Petition Warrant Article, where 25 Milton Residents who are registered voters can put this on the ballot, for all voters to cast their vote. There also the possibility that there could be a second petition warrant article if 25 voters wanted to disallow the landfill. The waiting begins to see what R.E. Energy’s next move is. They were in attendance but did not speak. The best news is that we now have a majority of the Board of Selectmen who have listened to the residents and are moving forward within the law not to allow this type of industry in Milton NH.
