Good News for Runners Up “A man came to Allah’s Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) and said, ‘O Allah’s Messenger! What do you say about a man who loves some people but cannot catch up with their good deeds?’ Allah’s Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, ‘Everyone will be with those whom he loves.’” [Sahih Bukhari] There are some people who are as rarely to be found as salt is in flour, but when you find them you love them intensely and only because of the love they have for Allah (subhana wa ta’ala). There is nothing you want from them, except perhaps that they might also love you. You see their good deeds and true nature as much better than yours. You would like to be like them but see that you fall very short. You are not envious or jealous of them but love them sincerely. This love that you have for them is because of your love of Allah (subhana wa ta’ala). The good news for you then is that on the Day of Judgement you will be with those whom you love.
