Assignments require the exercise of independent discretion, judgment and a thorough understanding of company/department policies and procedures. Employees will work both independently and as part of workgroups or teams. Purpose of the Job: This student position provides additional support to the labour required for the warehouse operations within the distribution centre. Duties and Responsibilities: Freezer/Cooler Selection: - Perform freezer/cooler selection: Accurately selecting product to be loaded on company trailers. - Ensure proper stop sequence and construction on all pallets/carts selected Dry Selection: - Perform dry selection: Accurately selecting product to be loaded on company trailers. - Ensure proper stop sequence and construction on all pallets/carts selected. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS - Warehouse experience - preferred but will train - Electric pallet jack experience - an asset but will train - Able to lift up to 50lbs. - Must be able to work in a cold or freezer environment - Ability to multi-task - Strong work ethic, team player - Good communication skills - Able to work seven to nine training shifts during last 3 weeks of November and first week of December - Able to work both Saturday AND Sunday during last 2 - 3 weeks of December 2014; on-call weekday shifts also required Working Conditions & Additional Information: This student employment opportunity is on a temporary basis for the 2014 holiday season only. There are two shifts which a student may work - Day shift (6:30 am to 4:30 pm) and Afternoon shift (4:30 pm to 2:30 am) per day. The hourly rate is $16/hour.
