Good TGI Friday morning! The best chance of rain that we have seen - TopicsExpress

Good TGI Friday morning! The best chance of rain that we have seen this week and probably in a few weeks will be from 3pm CDT today until 3am tomorrow morning. Widely scattered showers and t-storms will develop along the surface trough of low pressure that will be right over the central TX Panhandle by late day. Check out the KVII Computer Model forecast for 5pm today showing a high of 95 degrees and southerly to southwesterly winds at 10-20 mph at that time. As requested, you can see the forecast high temperatures across the region according to the NAM (North American Model). Thanks to those of you who responded to my request for feedback and the overwhelming choice was to include this in the daily suite of computer model data....so here it is! The NAM (North American Model), European, Canadian and GFS (Global Forecasting Model) are all pointing toward a decent chance of rainfall tonight. Now, does that mean that everybody will see rain tonight? No. IF you do get rained upon, average rainfall amounts will vary from .25 to .50 with isolated, heavier totals between 1-2 possible. Winds will blow from the southwest and west at 5-15 mph tonight, but beware that variable and gusty winds are likely with the t-storms! Skies will partly to mostly cloudy as well as overnight lows drop into the 60s and 70s by sunrise Saturday. The rain chances will be less Saturday afternoon than we are expecting today as the surface trough of low pressure that will be directly over us this afternoon...will sink south toward the Lubbock-Wichita Falls area tomorrow afternoon. Thats where the best rain chances will be, but we will still see a few, isolated afternoon showers and t-storms around here. The KVII Computer Model forecast shows just how many t-storms are expecting. It will be another hot day with a high of 95 degrees in Amarillo and around 100 degrees in the eastern Panhandles. Winds will blow from the east at 5-15 mph. The weather will be more of the same Sunday through Wednesday time frame. Each afternoon, we will see hit and miss afternoon and evening showers and t-storms that will develop after 3pm CDT. These showers and t-storms will linger until around 3am CDT before they dissipate. Winds will be light and variable on Sunday, light southwesterly in the morning at 5-15 mph, then southeast at 5-15 mph winds will occur on Monday and Tuesday. It will be breezy on Wednesday with southerly and southwesterly winds at 15-25 mph with some higher gusts possible as a surface trough of low pressure develops in New Mexico. On Thursday and next Friday, we have no chance of rain as upper-level high pressure moves back overhead. High temperatures will stay in the 90s to around 100 degrees over the eastern Panhandles by late day. Winds will stay breezy from the south and southwest at 15-25 mph with some higher gusts possible as well. Thats a look at your TGI Friday morning weather! Hope you get some good rain later today and Ill be back tomorrow morning around 6am with your Saturday morning forecast discussion. See you then!
