Good Thursday morning! I have come to the conclusion that squirrels are taking over the world. Is it just me or is there an overabundance of them these days? And they are becoming bold. Yesterday I got home from work and there were three of them scampering up the front steps of the house. They all stopped, watched me get out of the car, walk up the steps and only when I started towards the door did they run off in the other direction. Before moving, the closest one to me was less than two feet away! I am amazed. In the wee hours, when the sun is just beginning to stretch its fingers up over the horizon, I often take my morning coffee out to the back porch and watch the day begin. The squirrels in my neighbourhood have a whole morning ritual. Its an organized orchestra of waking up and greeting the day. There is a head squirrel who wakes up first (must be the mother). She then scurries across my back fence over to the neighbours fence, races along it and up the tree in their back yard. There is a great deal of noise and chattering going on and within a minute or so a second squirrel is up and chasing after the first as they race from tree to tree waking other squirrels. Soon there is a whole line of them running along the back fences and up and down the trees. It is the same every morning. What an amazing sight! And judging by the sheer numbers I am seeing everywhere Im convinced that we should not fear an Alien Attack from outer space but more, we should worry about an Attack of the Killer Squirrels........................
