Good Wednesday morning, folks! The low that brought all the snow to Labrador is finally pulling away from the coast of the Big Land, and weather will begin to improve in its wake! Here are some snowfall totals from Sunday morning to 6:15 AM AST this morning: • Wabush Airport: 78 cm (50 cm fell on Monday!) • CFB Goose Bay: 44 cm (30 cm in 17 hours on Tuesday!) • Makkovik: 39 cm • Nain: 26 cm • Cartwright: 19 cm • Hopedale (unmanned station): 38 cm Wind gusts were also strong with this low, and here are some peaks from the storm: • Hopedale: 115 km/h • Marys Harbour: 96 km/h • Nain: 94 km/h • Blanc-Sablon, QC: 91 km/h • Cartwright: 81 km/h • Makkovik: 78 km/h • Wabush Airport: 65 km/h Source: t.co/F94ppmCDOU In Labrador today expect some coastal flurries ending by afternoon...otherwise a mix of sun and cloud should envelop most areas by afternoon. Temperatures top out in the minus teens to near -20°. Across Newfoundland today temperatures will not move a whole bunch. Its near freezing on the eastern side of the Island, and a few degrees below central/west and on the northern Peninsula. Onshore flurries will be found on the western side of the Island through the day. The wind across all areas should diminish this afternoon. ----- An area of low pressure will pass near the Avalon Peninsula late Thursday into Friday. This looks to bring a fair amount of snow to parts of central and eastern Newfoundland, while the Avalon may have some rain to deal with at times during this event. Full details on this later today. Have a great day! Cheers, Meteorologist Eddie Sheerr
