Good advertising should make you feel good inside so that it - TopicsExpress

Good advertising should make you feel good inside so that it creates desire for the product or brand. Especially at this time of year, stores try and capture minds so people can buy their seasons gifts. I saw something on the Debenhams department store X-mas ad saying it was demonic. I had to watch it - and it is. It features pure materialism as if Xmas is no longer the season of giving but the season of taking. The children in the ad may smile but they are running wild, snatching, taking.... Its me, me, me. Now compare this to the John Lewis Xmas Ad. This is the opposite. It shows a child in love with his Penguin that wants a different sort of company. Its all about sharing, friendship, love and giving. It brings a tear to the eye (not too dissimilar to last years John Lewis ad). Ill be curious to know which brings in the shoppers. My bets are on John Lewis as if I had kids of the age in the Debenhams ad Id keep them clear away. (Comments please on whether you agree or disagree). The hashtag for John Lewiss ad is #MontythePenguin.
