Good afternoon. 2:25 p.m. - We are still in holding on the surgery floor from our supposed 2:00 schedule. Tyler needed platelets this morning since his were only 41 (need to be at least 50). They gave him platelets, waited 30 minutes then re-drew his blood to check it to make sure it went up past 50. As we were almost ready to go to surgery, report back that platelets are now only 6! The blood sample must have been diluted somehow, and the readings are not accurate at all. So we had more blood drawn and now we are waiting for the results to come back again so we can proceed with the surgery. Platelets should obviously be fine but we have to have that confirmed. UPDATE: 2:50 p.m. - OK! So now the sample they sent off CLOTTED and we need to re-draw ANOTHER one!! At least I still have my sense of humor - so I said well if his blood clotted, at least we know he has enough PLATELETS! Lol cracking myself up in my frustration. We wait.
