Good afternoon, As this morning’s frontal system that affected England and Wales moves northwards affecting Scotland during this afternoon, there is a threat of heavy showers and thunderstorms developing, as a cold front passes through England and Wales this afternoon/evening. With unstable air and surface heating available due to breaks in the cloud, heavy showers and thunderstorms will develop widely across England and Wales, bringing the risk of heavy rain, hail, lightning and gusty winds. Some of the showers may merge to bring longer spells of rain in areas, which may lead to standing water, so extra care is advised. The showers will ease by late evening for many areas, but for parts of Northern England, showers will continue for a time during the night. Stuart.
