Good afternoon Delmarva. Well as you can see we have the cold - TopicsExpress

Good afternoon Delmarva. Well as you can see we have the cold front to our west. Very strong southerly winds will whip up the coast until the passage of the front late tonight for our area. As JK has stated in past posts, heavy rain and thunderstorms will be pushing though our area if they arent doing so already by the time I post this. EXPECT A HUGE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE WHEN YOU WAKE UP!!!!!!! We will see the coldest air of the season since last winter. Temperatures will range from the upper teens to mid 20s across the shore. On top of this winds will make it feel about 10 degrees colder then the air temps. As you can see from the first two maps, first is the HRRR experimental model temps will be a little chilly in the morning running around 270-275Kelvin which is 26-30F. The second map is the GFS and also shows temps near that of the HRRR. It is showing mid to low 30s for the Delmarva. This is by far just the start. Tuesday dont expect for the temperatures to climb much past 40F if they even get that high. ******************************************************************************* As I type this at 2:15pm very very heavy rain has just started here in the west Salisbury area. Please take your time driving as ponding of water will occur on roadways. ******************************************************************************** This cold air is coming straight from the North Pole and Siberia. This is shown on the third picture. The huge trough dug all the way to the gulf coast and will expand eastward. These temps will continue through the week until the pattern breaks down, and it will breakdown. We will be experiencing a warm up to normal temperatures by maybe this weekend 11-22 and into Thanksgiving. Some things do show even a chance of a couple of degrees above normal. Basically what is happening is all of those teleconnections I talked about in the winter report like the NAO, AO, ect..... are going positive as the El Nino starts its progress. The United States in a whole will have a zonal flow west to east. I dont see this breaking down until about middle of December. This is to be expected, so dont worry snow lovers. Winter will return!!! The last 3 pictures show the lows for Tues, Wed, & Thurs. Theres are model forcasted, therefore they could be even lower which I expect. We should expect lows in the mid to lower 20s. Now depending of how much the winds subside there could be a very slight chance the cold spots on Delmarva could see a couple teen readings. We shall see............ Make sure you dress and your children are dressed for this cold weather. Also make sure to check your plumbing for your house and also dont forget to winter prep your cars as this air can cause damage to those items. DW
