Good afternoon, Do you know a recent graduate who is interested in public policy and creating meaningful change for North Carolina? My name is Allison Hawkins and I am the Emerging Leaders Fellow at the Institute for Emerging Issues (IEI). I’m writing to announce two openings for recent graduates to work at IEI as Emerging Leaders Fellows. I hope you will pass this exciting information on to outstanding students or young leaders you know who are looking for opportunities in public service in North Carolina. IEI is a collaborative “think-and-do tank” focused on tackling big issues that affect North Carolina’s future growth and prosperity. From energy, to fiscal modernization, to improving our systems of higher education, IEI takes the lead in convening state leaders from business, higher education and government to address these issues early to prepare for future challenges and opportunities. IEI, with the generous support of BB&T, has established an Emerging Leaders Program as part of an extended effort to train our up-and-coming leaders. As part of this program, IEI will hire two outstanding recent graduates as Emerging Leaders Fellows. The Fellows will work as an integral part of the IEI team on a variety of projects. The Fellows will: • Serve as both lead and assistant on programs related to engaging other emerging leaders across the state, including the Discovery Forum, the Emerging Issues Prize for Innovation, and the SECU Emerging Issues Prize for Innovation; • Contribute to the planning and implementation of IEI’s yearly program of work and the world-renowned Emerging Issues Forum; and • Work with the IEI Director to formulate an individualized plan of work to develop particular skills of value to both the Fellow and IEI. IEI is looking for applicants who are still in the beginning stages of their professional life with great potential for leadership and who would benefit from receiving a broad range of experiences and guidance from staff at IEI. The two Fellows will be hired for different time periods – one Fellow will be hired for an 11 month term (starting June 2, 2014) and the other will be hired for a 23 month term (starting July 1, 2014). IEI asks that applicants submit applications under the posting for the time period they are interested in. If an applicant would like to be considered for either position please submit an application under each posting. IEI will provide a competitive compensation package including: $45,000 annual salary, state holidays and two weeks paid vacation, employee benefits, $1000 professional development allowance, and reimbursements for approved business related expenses. Applicants must apply by 11:59 p.m. on April 6, 2014. To apply: .
