Good afternoon Please be advised, effective immediately I will be resigning from my role as President of the Qld Champion of Champions. There has been question as to my commitment and performance in this role, and so it would be of benefit to the Champion of Champions and to the industry as a whole if I stand down and allow for someone with more commitment, talent and time to fulfil this important role. I advise that I have also today received the resignation of our Secretary. The current committee of the Qld Champion of Champions has been working tirelessly to make things better, implementing a membership survey (of which was very well received, and some sensational ideas bought forward), as well as a planned full day workshop with selected industry folk to implement strategies for the future. To make it better for you, our members and our contestants. In my long association with Champs, it is very difficult to undertake change. However, we know that the only way to advance Champs and the industry in Queensland is to implement change, with the support of the membership – even if that change is controversial in some ranks. We have been working closely with high level industry folk, to re-align champs with them so as to ensure that Champs is seen as an important process in the journey of a country music artist, respect from the higher level in the industry is paramount, and Champs has that respect. I urge you please, if you can get behind champs. Don’t sit back and complain if you’re not happy with things, or if you have ideas on how things can be done better – step up and get involved. Champs has always been organised by a VERY SMALL number of people. It is a huge task, that should not be taken lightly. Without certain members of the current committee (not me) – then Champs would have folded years ago, that’s the reality of it. I want to acknowledge Sam Burgess and her commitment and passion to the artists of Queensland. I wish the committee all the best in the future, and I hope that with some fresh executive and new ideas it will prosper again. Yours in country music Paul Wilson
