Good afternoon, Please note that union strikes are scheduled Dec. 8 in Brussels, Walloon Brabant and Flemish Brabant. Find below the potential consequences of these strikes: • Railway Belgian railway network will be highly affected by the strikes on Dec. 8. In the Walloon Brabant, unions have planned strike blockades. Several shops, schools and companies will be closed too. As for the railway network, the strikes planned in the Flemish and Walloon Brabant and Brussels will have serious consequences not only in those provinces but in all the country as it will affect the national and international railway traffic. The Belgian railway company will make every effort to notify users of the situation through different channels: Web site, App, boards in the train station, Twitter, announcements in the train station. • Bus, Tramway, Subway Brussels Public Transportation Services (Bus, Tramway and Subway) could be completely blocked as trade unions have called for an overall mobilization of the employees. The transportation company will make every effort to service the main line, depending on the personnel available. • Brussels Airport Serious disruptions at Brussels Airport The airport has notified of serious disruptions at Brussels Airport during the Dec. 8 & 15 strikes. The strikes will affect private and public transportation services and activities on the airport site with consequences potentially leading to delays and/or cancellations. However, it is difficult to accurately predict the consequences. People who are supposed to travel on Dec. 8 and 15 are advised to contact their airline or travel company to know the situation and take the best decision regarding their trip. At this point, 40 flights that were initially scheduled Dec. 8 have already been cancelled which represents about 3,000 passengers. Similar actions will be taken on Dec. 15. Several companies have notified that they could have their flights depart from other airports (Charleroi, Lièges, Ostende or Amsterdan/Schiphol in the Netherlands). Coaches have been scheduled to transport passengers to the different airports. Brussels Airport has also notified that it could be affected by other actions scheduled for Dec. 11 by train driver unions affecting the access to the Airport through the railways and for Dec. 12 by the federal police that could cause delays at the check points outside Schengen area. • Several industrial parks, companies, shops and schools will be closed Trade unions have notified that several industrial parks in the Walloon Brabant will be blocked in the early morning, notably in Wavre, Nivelles, or Wauthier-Braine. Companies, shops and schools will also be affected in Nivelles, Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve or Wavre. • More than 300 strike blockades in front of Brussels companies Strike blockades will take position in front of more than 300 companies in Brussels’ region. Blockades are planned in front of shops like Delhaize, Carrefour, Cora, Mediamarkt, Brico, Inno, etc. Schools and post offices will also be affected. Your Garrison PAO team
