Good afternoon! Quick reminder that I primarily do posts on major weather events, and some weather facts, etc. Most day to day weather will not be reported on here. It is January. And that means cold. We are approaching a month now of thick snowpack on the ground in the Northeastern corner of Colorado. We have been experiencing a parade of cold fronts as of late. That trend continues into next week. Only a handful of days since mid-December have been above freezing, and the coming days offer at most, one day above freezing. Expect Teens tomorrow, perhaps mid to upper 30s Thursday, Teens Friday, and then 20s Sunday through Tuesday of next week. This is, again, January in Northeastern Colorado, and it has been notably colder up here than any other part of the Eastern Plains of Colorado. We do experience colder winters up here than the rest of the Eastern Plains of the state, and that has rang true, and will continue to ring true in the coming days. Current snowpack is going nowhere, and pockets of light snow, freezing drizzle, and fog can be anticipated off and on over the next few days. The hint of good news in this is that the brunt of the bitter arctic cold is staying off to the east of us. The coming cold is more normal cold for this time of year. We have also gained back a few minutes of daylight. In a couple more weeks it will become more noticeable. Winter is a long ways from over, but soon we will already be able to see hints of the coming spring, however small they are.
