Good afternoon and happy Sunday to everyone. I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you. Because of your support, The Singin’Dentist Facebook page reached a milestone today, blowing through the “1000 likes” barrier. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. This page, The Singin’ Dentist page, is near and dear to my heart. Yes I have a successful career as a dentist in Windsor, CT. I’ve been at it for almost 30 years and I love my work. I’ve taken that practice to the forefront, offering to my family of patients, probably the best, most technologically advanced healthcare available today, all in a warm and caring setting. Still an individual cannot deny a dream. Within my being rests a deep rooted passion. Several times over the years that passion has tried to emerge, only to be suppressed by the reality of the moment. However, a few years ago that drive burst on the scene with an incredible intensity. Rather than fleeing from my dream as I had in the past, this time around I pursued it with gusto. I embarked on a new path, a path to emerge as vocalist. The Singin’ Dentist was born. It has been an incredible journey. Backed by the steadfast love and support of my wife Shelley and my family, I’ve advanced down a wondrous road, loving it every step of the way. It’s hard to describe the feeling I get, when I’m up there in front of a crowd, with mike in hand, my band backing me up, hammering out those vocals. It’s one of the greatest thrills I’ve ever encountered. Yet, it’s not just the music that has made this trip so fantastic, you see it’s the people I’ve met along the way that has made this experience truly special. Rod Warner, who owns the Green Olive Lounge, a recording studio in Coventry, CT, produced and engineered my first two albums. A great guy, he taught me the ropes about recording and he worked me hard, always pushing me to new heights. Rod also brought in number of musicians to work on the projects. One of them, in particular, was a bassist named Dan Prindle. I cannot say enough about this very driven individual. Along with playing bass and acoustic in the band and doing all of our arrangements, Dan voluntarily taught me practically “everything I needed to know about having a band but was afraid to ask”. Married with two small children, Dan is an educator in music at the college level. He’s working on his PhD in music theory. He teaches private lessons and he is also an extremely talented musician in his own right, with well over 1000 gigs under his belt. In the end, what began as a simple collaboration to record an album, I’m proud to say, evolved into a damn good friendship. Rounding out the band, Dan brought in two more excellent musicians, a top jazz pianist named Stephen Page and a highly skilled and intuitive drummer named Bryan Kelly. By year’s end it became obvious to me that if I was going to grow as a vocalist, I was going to need professional training. By a stroke of luck, I was able to stumble upon a guy named Eric Arceneaux. Eric is probably one of the best professional vocal trainers on the scene today. An accomplished singer with quite a long pedigree, Eric hails from the DC area and believe it or not, we actually connect via Skype; hey long distance is the next best thing to being there! Each week I’ll be posting a blog on this page related to news about me and the band, scheduled appearances, health topics (remember I still am a dentist), and whatever happens to be on my mind at the time. I’ll also be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Do keep in touch and get the word out to your friends and relatives about our great music and this page. Thanks again!
