Good article. My participation in movements has always been - TopicsExpress

Good article. My participation in movements has always been limited to online activism (read: arguing on the internet), and lately Im attempting to let that go too. It all boils down to the futility of centering a movement on I dont believe ______. You will never have a problem finding a large group of people to get behind the idea that something has to go. Its called a lynch mob. No wonder, then, that we ended up with some creeps at the head of the line. Did you think we were immune to creeps being atheists? The only people who cant join the atheist movement are religious believers. The rest - Ayn Rand Assholes, Radical Capitalists, 14 year olds who are angry at their religious parents and outright sociopaths - are all A-Ok, if thou shalt not believe in God is how we define our movement. Ultimately, the atheist movement is doomed from the get go. Attempts to jerryrig it, like that Atheism Plus fiasco, are even more horrific than Ptolemaic cosmology. We need to put something, not nothing, at the centre of our universe. What we need is a Science movement.
