Good article on women executives and reasons as to why women are still not in the Chief suites. I know that while I was working in a male dominated profession, finance, and succeeding, I was too busy proving I belonged that I chose not to help the other women around me. I didnt want to spend my political capital on the gender issue. I suppose, if Im honest, its one of the reasons why I launched the non profit, Rock the Street, Wall Street. Im hoping that there in the workshops, mentoring and office experiences, the girls will get one message among many, that its a good thing to help each other. One point in the article below which is very well made... Women can and should do a better job of helping one another to be in that transactional forum, and to get over the anxiety that we’re going to be found wanting on the wrong side of that equation. We’re undervaluing the role that we can play in the success of other people and the organization. So don’t be afraid to spend some of that political capital. You have to be well prepared, you have to be smart, you have to be on time, you have to be responsive, you have to be respectful, you have to have principles.
