Good arvo everyone. Been a struggle today to get finger to keyboard. C Grade Match result and Report By A Drink or Three Pucka C Grade hosted the undefeated boys from Flowerdale on the back oval. With a confidence around the team to give Flowerdale a red hot go, several things started off our way. For one we won the toss again (Still havent lost one !) The plan was lets put them in and bowl them out. Pretty good plan and from the very first ball, opener Grant The Prez Gripske otherwise known as Phil Inn, had the Flowerdale opener gone caught behind. A couple overs later The Prez had picked up another couple of wickets. Flowerdale on the backfoot at 3/20 off 6 overs. It should be noted that Flowerdale has only lost an average of 3.5 wickets per match so far this season. A batting recovery of sorts in the middle order resulted in a 60 run partnership, but with a bowling change, it was time to bring on Clint Mcsweeney . He bowled well and broke the partnership with an inspirational catch by Maurice Burger Hall, removing the dangerous J.Stephens for a quick fire 46. Another partnership formed and the boys stuck to good fielding. A couple of bowling changes were made resulting in a couple of opportunities going astray, mainly from yours truly who put in a shocker dropping a chest mark and confusing everyone and myself on two very easy run out chances. A day that I wont forget in a hurry Ill give you the tip. The Fridge bowled his typical good line and length and thanks to another great catch by the Burger finished his spell with 1/29. Well bowled. The score 3/139 off 30 overs. Matt Marston was given the ball and bowled well picking up 2 wickets with the last 2 balls of his second over. Time was called by Flowerdale at 3:20pm, with only 35 overs bowled. Flowerdale 7/164. Batting proved to be difficult with wickets falling at an average of 1 per over, with the score at 5/9 off 6 overs. A small glimmer of hope had arisen with Matt Marston and Greame The Fridge Potts putting together some runs but the still wickets tumbled. The only highlight was a sensational display of sportsmanship with Clint Mcsweeney being caught behind, then he gave the bowler a high five and shook hands with several players before removing himself from the field. Your a legend Clint. The other strange dismissal was Cheggars being bowled removing both off and leg stumps with middle stump still standing intact. Pucka all out for 32. Disappointment from all was felt but with Flowerdale only fielding on side in the SDCA in C Grade, and their strength this year can be combatted in the future. We will put this one away, and learn from it and work harder next week. See you at training and yes my lip isnt drooping today. Go Pucka !
