Good bye Ole Missoula. After nearly 20 years of Missoula I am - TopicsExpress

Good bye Ole Missoula. After nearly 20 years of Missoula I am busting a move out of Montana. Missoula holds some very dear memories and it all started because of Mike Roselle and Twilly Cannon pulling me out here in 1995 to help form what became The Ruckus Society. So many great years bringing The Gourds up here. The first year the band played River City Roots in front of 6,000 was certainly one of a few highlights with the lads. The creation of Climate Ground Zero in 2007 and 2008 working on the Alberta Tar Sands hold some dear memories and the trouble we gave the fossil fuel industry, all the media attention we got up there and the Alberta government spying scandal that ensued certainly sealed my fate of getting back into Canada anymore. My best memories of Montana are in the land, in the sky, in the rivers and with the people I shared that with. So many places in this region I have been blessed to see and experience and to just be in an area of The Lower 48 where Great Grizzly Bear still roams has always been so special to me. I will never forget the first time I came to Missoula on a late night flight in April of 1995, Roselle and Twilly scooped me at the airport and the first place I went was Charlie B’s. Of course drunkenness and a great time ensued that evening and I remember getting up the next morning and the first thing I saw was a huge peace sign on a hill. Between my experience at Charlie’s the night before and seeing that peace sign on the hill first thing the next morning I thought to myself “Missoula, Cool Place”. I will be heading to an area of Appalachia in West Virginia and Asheville, North Carolina in 2 weeks to work with some colleagues and longtime mates that are fighting Mountain Top Removal and looking to gear up a campaign against the monopoly of Duke Energy. Feel Free to stop by and say goodbye and yes I am selling/unloading all my stuff so maybe come by say good bye and take some of this stuff off my hands. Hate to just put it all out on the streets. Lord knows where life will take me. Sometimes a change is just needed and sometimes you just got to bust a move and put your fate in the hands of the universe. Most of us have been there or in some similar place before and now it is my turn.
