Their latest album Here She Lies “is an impressive post mortem biographical departure of a picturesque blacktop two lane fast track to a never-ending love and the ensuing account of the ditches littered with bloodied and rusting hotrods, broken hearts, windshield’s stained with tears and the parched quartet quenched with whiskey.” Whew... thanks for that Dave ;-) This afternoon at Mikey’s it bluestime bigtime with the Saturday afternoon Blues jam hosted of course by Mikey himself. Saturday afternoon bluestime also at the Shamrock with Calgary blues institution Bill Dowey hosting his King Eddy Jam at the Shamrock where tonight it’s Mississippi bluester and harp monster Grady Champion puttin’ in his final night of this Calgary visit before movin’ on to a week-long engagement at Edmonton’s Blues on Whyte. Tim Williams is hosting the Blues Can’s Saturday afternoon blues jam today with Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne providing the blues power tonight. Skill-testing question, how many times did the word blues appear in this paragraph? ;-) It’s a Blueswak Family Jam day at the Ironwood today 1-5 with good friends the Ethan Collister Trio and Deon Blyan making the joyful noise tonight. The Nickelodeon Folk Club has its Three In One Alberta Night featuring 100 Mile House, Joe Nolan and the Travelling Mabels at the Crescent Heights Community Hall this evening. Something a little different for Chelsea’s with an Acoustic Triple Bill featuring Big Guy, Mark Rivest & Vagrant Souls.
