Good day Delmarva. So all this talk about snow and cold, it - TopicsExpress

Good day Delmarva. So all this talk about snow and cold, it seems winter might just make his presence shown. Well for a couple of days at least. So what can we expect and how cold will it get???? Lets take a look........... First picture is the GFS valid 0Z 08 Jan. this would be 7pm Wednesday Jan 7. The GFS shows a chance of snow say from Salisbury north and from Georgetown north and west. The coastline and south of Salisbury no accumulations. Second picture is the hi res GFS. Valid the same date and time as the GFS. This model differs just a tad and not letting the storm dig as far south as the GFS. Thus keeping the snow north of Salisbury and also allowing snow on the Delaware coast. Third picture is the NAM 4k or the NAM hi-res. This is kind of close to the GFS. Salisbury north gets the snow including the Delaware beaches. Okay this is what the models show.... BUT we arent 100% done with this. The problem is these clipper systems have a funny life to them. Most of the time the clippers die off just before crossing the mountains. Also sometimes they hold their own while crossing the mountains putting down a couple inches of snow at maximum. But there are rare cases where these systems tap into some Atlantic moisture and really over produce. Now I do NOT see that happening with this system, but to be honest that isnt something that can really be forecasted until the storm is happening. AGAIN THIS IS NOT A LIKELY SOLUTION!!! Now after the passage of this clipper, the flood gates will be opened and COLD ARCTIC AIR will rush into our area and temperatures will plummet! Temperatures are still in the range that I talked about on Saturday. Tuesday highs in the mid to upper 30s Tuesday night lows in the mid to low 20s Wednesday highs in the mid to lower 30s Wednesday night lows in the low 20s to mid teens maybe low teens Thursday we struggle to get out of the 20s for highs Thursday lows in the high teens Friday highs back in the 30s We will keep you up to date as is needed. Enjoy DW
