Good day It is not uncommon to be inspired by other poets; even rewriting one of your own poems, using a different poetry form. I have done this often. The following Suzette Prime poem was inspired by one of my earlier haiku (contained in my poetry volume, ILLUMINATE). TIME, also lent its title to my new volume of poetry now on sale: TIME - SUZETTE PRIME POETRY. Please see my website for details: suzettepoet.webs a given day to complete its trajectory sun sets in minutes TIME Inspired by the above haiku from my poetry volume, Illuminate. sun takes a full day to complete its trajectory from our birth we are marking time to the inevitable end of our life span for some the time is far too fleeting for others each and every minute seems like eternity we can neither borrow time nor can we lend against it this is the one thing we all have in common: we are all caught in the process of time moving on at its own pace – not influenced by any human interference since antiquity the beginning of a new day was marked by nightfall strange to us as it seems when the sun had set on any given day the business of that day was deemed finalised when the sun touches the horizon, shadows lengthen it sets in minutes let shadows fall as they may nearing the end of our lives we sense the urgent need to dispel the shadows of our past, to make amends – to right wrongs but time is not on our side at final sunset our lives run out at a pace we only stay alive in memory of others whose lives we have touched it is the final moments of our lives that others recall best therefore it is not the first impression that counts it is the final thought we leave with others like lingering dusk after our sun had set on this mortal world © 2014 Suzette Richards
